As I reflect on my journey, I am taken back to the days when I first stepped out of grad school, armed with an MBA and a vision to transform the Navajo Nation and improve the lives of tribal peoples. My aim was clear: to improve our society, refine our laws, and invigorate our economy. In those early days, I was driven by a passion to make a difference, and I was fortunate to achieve a fair measure of success. From the LGA and forms of local governance base on our ancient proven processes to gaining congressional delegation over business site leasing, creating the sales tax, to major developments such as Antelope Pointe marina, Monument valley resort and the window rock marketplace, to creating ventures such as Navajo Shopping center inc and Native Times Inc, it was a grand experience.
After that and for over two decades, I ventured into the bustling world beyond the reservation, building a career rich with experiences and insights from directing a nationally recognized organization to launching several ventures. Yet, the call of my homeland was strong, and I returned, renewed with strength and wisdom, ready to face the challenges that awaited.
Upon my return, I found a government enveloped in internal strife, a far cry from the unity and values we once held dear. To navigate this landscape, I embraced the warrior's path, fortified by protection prayers and the teachings of our ancestors. In doing so, I stood against the forces that threatened to divide us, drawing strength from our rich cultural heritage.
In collaboration with a renowned reggae artist and a friend and hip hop master, I co-wrote "Warriors Code," a song that resonates with the spirit of resilience and unity. This song, along with the dedication to Native American Warriors, is a testament to our enduring strength and commitment to preserving our identity. You can explore more about this journey and the warriors who inspire us at Native American Warriors.
Now, I invite you to join me in this reflection through the poem "The Warrior's Path," which captures the essence of our struggles, hopes, and the unwavering spirit of our people.
The Warrior's Title: The Warrior's Path
In the land where the sacred mountains stand, A warrior returns to his people's land. Once a young man with dreams so bright, Now a seasoned soul, ready to fight.
The path of change is fraught with pain, But the spirit of tradition must remain. In a world where values seem to fade, A warrior's heart cannot be swayed.
From laws rewritten to dreams realized, In history's pages, your name is prized. Yet the echoes of what once was, Call out for healing, for a cause.
The medicine men, the sacred rites, The songs of old, the guiding lights. Once strong and vibrant, now seem dim, But the warrior's heart beats from within.
Grandfather sees the strength you've gained, The warrior's path, the soul unchained. Yet humor, love, and culture's grace, Remain your guide in this sacred space.
In a world that seeks the modern way, The warrior questions, "Should we stray?"For in the simple, the peace of mind,The essence of life, we often find.
By the sheep, by the fire, under the stars,The warrior knows where true wealth lies. In the laughter, the stories, the earth's embrace,In the heart of the people, in this sacred place.
So let us remember, in all we strive,To keep our soul, to keep alive.

For the warrior's path is not just to fight, But to nurture the spirit, to seek the light.
